Board of Directors

Based in Brasil and Austria the UKA Institute is governed by a Board of Directors belonging to Munduruku und Krenak indigenous people

The General Board Members serve a four-year term. New board members are elected by Native popular vote by UK'A membership during Annual Convention.

 

Daniel Munduruku ≪•◦ ❈ ◦•≫ Founder & Chief Executive Officer

writer and professor, belonging to the Munduruku indigenous people. Author of 56 books published by various publishers in Brazil and abroad, most of which are classified as children's and young adult literature and educational. Holds a degree in Philosophy and is licensed in History and Psychology. Holds a Master's and Ph.D. in Education from USP - University of São Paulo and a Post-Doctorate in Linguistics from the Federal University of São Carlos - UFSCar.

 

 


Edson Krenak Naknanuk ≪•◦ ❈ ◦•≫ International Relations & Executive Director

belonging to the Krenak indigenous people,  reports to the board and leads UKA’s dedicated staff of advocates. Edson Krenak Naknanuk is a writer, and a PhD student at Vienna University, Austria, where he develops studies in legal anthropology. He holds degrees in linguistics and literary theory at Sao Carlos Federal University in Brazil. He also works as a speaker and trainer at Uka Instituto in Brazil. As writer, he won the 10th Tamoios National Prize of Indigenous writers in Brazil with the book O Sonho de Borum', and his tale "Kren and Pockrane, Why There Are Not Twing among the Krenak People" is part of the UNICED-nominated book Nos, Antologia de Contos Indigenas. Edson`s ancestors are known as the Botocudos. He speaks Portuguese, Spanish, English, and German.

 

Krepur de Andrade  ≪•◦ ❈ ◦•≫ Chief Impact Officer ≪•◦ ❈ ◦•≫ Plattform Services and Impact

 

Krepur de Andrade has spent her entire career working in information technology projects to accelerate digital services and information technology solutions. Prior to Uka Institute, Krepur has studied environmental & energy management and a passion for helping entrepreneurs scale breakthrough technologies and processes, Krepur.

Nicole holds an MBA in Environment and Energy from the Middlesex University London and Specialization on Managing Information Systems from Toronto University. Krepur serves on multiple initiatives for indigenous arts and culture protection and advisory groups, and lives in Vienna, Austria with family and labrador retriever.
